What is a Limit Switch?
A Limit Switch is especially important within industrial automation and control systems providing essential information and safety measures. Designed to detect the presence or absence of an object or to monitor the position of a moving part within an industrial process, machine, or equipment. A Limit Switch ensures that a component will stop, start, or change direction when required.
Benefits and Types of Limit Switches
There are many benefits in using limit switches within mechanical and industrial environments as they provide precise control, safety, and feedback.
- Position sensing limit switches accurately sense the position of a mechanical component
- Safety limit switches, important within industrial processes, preventing accidents and damage when something unsafe it detected by signalling a system to stop
- Automation limit switches are vital within automation and control as the control machinery, equipment and processes providing important feedback to a control system
- Mechanical actuation limit switches operate by physical contact with a moving part or object triggering the switch to change its state
- The switches have electrical contacts that change their position when actuated, normally open (NO), normally closed (NC) or both NO+NC
- Limit switches are a hard-wearing reliable component specially designed to stand up to mechanical wear, the environment, and extreme industrial conditions
- Limit switches are available in various actuator types suitable for different applications, no matter the job there is a limit switch available for your requirements
- Flexible and easy to install and integrate into existing systems, easily mounted reducing any equipment downtime
- Limit switches provide you with feedback allowing you to identify and deal with any problems within a system
