Thermistors

A Thermistor is used in circuits for temperature measurement and current-limiting control. The resistance change of a thermistor depends on the ambient temperature. There are two semiconductor types, based on the temperature coefficient. Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) Thermistor: Resistance decreases as temperature rises, Applications in low-temperature measurements of temperature sensors, and inrush current suppression. Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) Thermistor: Resistance increases as temperature rises, Applications in overcurrent protection.
