Allen Bradley Guardmaster 440G-L07255 Atlas 5 Solenoid Interlock Switch

Ensure greater protection for personnel and equipment and minimise downtime with the 440G-L07255 Atlas 5 heavy-duty Solenoid Interlock Switch Allen Bradley Guardmaster. The Atlas 5 is a heavy-duty switch and locking mechanism designed to withstand forces up to 5000N (1124lbs), providing vital stability and security for more demanding applications. This safety switch features a unique patented self-aligning head which can tolerate actuator misalignment, making it particularly useful for heavy guard doors and gates.

This unit is ideal for use with machinery which does not come to an immediate stop, or machines that would be damaged by premature interference. It is a positive mode, tongue-operated interlock switch. The Atlas 5 works by securely locking the machine safety guard closed until the power supply is removed, and keeps it isolated while the door is open. This helps to prevent risk of injury to personnel by ensuring that access to hazardous areas is restricted while machinery is in motion.

The 440G-L07255 Atlas 5 guard-locking switch has 2NC safety contacts, 1NO auxiliary contact, and M20 conduit entry. It is a Left Hand key lock. It has a standard actuator made of robust stainless steel for enhanced durability. This switch also has a high holding force of 3850N (865 lbs). The solenoid voltage is 24 V ac/dc and the solenoid contacts are 2NC/1NO. The housing material is made of resilient die-cast alloy, making it highly suitable for use in harsh environments. The operating temperature of this safety switch is -10°C to +60°C (14°F to +14°F) and the enclosure has an ingress protection rating of IP65. It has Power-to-Release functionality.

Rockwell Automation is a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation, and brings smart manufacturing to life. With a long legacy of creating Allen-Bradley® integrated control and information solutions, we help make you as productive as possible. Our portfolio of sensing, safety and motor control products can support your move towards smart machine applications. Allen-Bradley® IO-Link sensors are data-enabled and communicate with all field buses, providing diagnostic and health information about the device before a machine stops, and enabling quick production changeovers through fast parameter downloads from PLCs into the device. This reduces machine downtime and increases manufacturing OEE. For safety components, products with built-in diagnostics simplify the set-up of the smart device, and reduce maintenance, leading to a more efficient, machine data-driven approach.

How do Solenoid Interlock Switches work?

Solenoid interlock switches work by having their internal solenoid energised (Power to Release) or de-energised (Power to Lock) by an external signal. The solenoid is a wire coil which converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. These types of safety switches are often used in industrial environments on machine guards to monitor the barrier status and limit unsafe access to hazardous equipment. They ensure that safety barriers remain securely locked while dangerous processes are running. They are useful with machinery that does not instantly stop, such as high inertia rotating machines.
