3M Abrasive Brush, 25.4mm Diameter, 3.175mm Shank Size - 27612

This abrasive brush provides a Compact rotary solution for surface preparation and cleaning tasks across industrial and medical contexts. Fitted with plastic bristles arranged radially and secured via a centre hole fixing, it is intended for attachment to small rotary tools and bench motors. Its construction suits use on diverse substrates where controlled abrasive action is required.

Features and Benefits:

• Radial plastic bristles deliver consistent material removal and finishing • Centre hole fixing allows secure mounting on compatible spindles • 3.175mm shank enables use with standard small-tool chucks • Maximum safe speed 35000 r/min supports high-speed operations • Effective on irregular surfaces for targeted contaminant removal

Applications

• Suitable for medical instrument cleaning and delicate surface preparation • Ideal for rust and paint removal on metal components • Used with right-angle tools for deburring edges and seams • Can be used for sealant and adhesive removal in maintenance tasks • Used for finishing and polishing in aerospace component workflows • Suitable for restoring wood and metal surfaces in repair jobs • Ideal for bench motor use in electronic and mechanical workshops

What shaft compatibility should I verify before fitting?

Ensure the tool chuck or collet accepts a 3.175mm shank and that the centre-hole securing method matches the mounting interface.

How does the brush behave at high rotational speeds?

At up to 35000 r/min the radial bristle arrangement maintains shape for steady abrasive action while minimising vibration when correctly mounted.

Which types of contaminants is it suited to remove?

It performs effectively on oxide, adhesive residues, sealant films, paint film and general surface contamination on both metal and wood substrates.

Can it be used on precision electronic components?

It is suitable for controlled cleaning tasks on electronic parts when operated with low contact pressure and appropriate tool speed to avoid damage.
