Honeywell 914CE Series Limit Switch, 12.2N Operating Force, Die Cast Zinc Housing - 914CE2-3

This limit switch is a Compact electromechanical device designed to detect position and actuate control circuits in industrial settings. It employs a roller plunger actuator and a snap-action contact system to deliver clear switching transitions for automation, electrical and mechanical applications. The enclosure is robust and suitable for harsh environments where ingress protection and elevated operating temperatures are expected.

Features and Benefits:

• SPDT snap action contact offers quick, decisive electrical switching
• IP66 IP67 IP68 rated housing resists dust and sustained immersion
• Mechanical life 10000000 operations reduces maintenance frequency
• Operating force 12.2N enables precise actuation thresholds
• Switching AC voltage 250V and DC 30V supports diverse control circuits
• Cable Terminal simplifies wiring in enclosed installations

Applications

• Suitable for conveyor end-of-travel detection in manufacturing lines
• Ideal for actuator limit sensing in pneumatic or hydraulic systems
• Used for door position monitoring in industrial enclosures
• Can be used for safety interlocks on automated machinery
• Used with control panels requiring waterproof position feedback

What material is used for the outer casing and why does it matter

The housing is die-cast zinc which provides mechanical robustness and dimensional stability under vibration and impacts encountered in industrial environments.

Can this switch operate at elevated temperatures expected near motors

Yes, it is rated to a maximum operating temperature of 105°C, allowing placement near heat‑generating equipment within that limit.

How is the unit mounted and oriented during installation

It is designed for vertical mounting orientation to ensure correct actuator travel and reliable contact operation.

What standards and approvals does it meet for regulatory acceptance

The product carries CE, CSA, cURus, EN, IEC, RoHS and UL approvals pertinent to industrial electrical components.

How are connections MADE to the electrical system

Electrical terminations are provided via a cable‑type Terminal to accommodate factory or field wiring practices.

Approvals

UL, CSA.

Caution

Products in the 914CE series will only meet IP and NEMA standards when used in non-hazardous locations. They only satisfy the requirements when installed properly (as per instruction) and completely.

Warning

914CE limit switches are not emergency stop devices or safety devices. They must not be used in devices, applications and environments where injury can be incurred as a result of product failure.

Standards

IP Rating:
All models within the 914CE series meet IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68. This ensures that they are completely dust tight, offer protection against jets of water and can be immersed in water up to 3 m.

NEMA Rating:
Every 914CE limit switch also meets NEMA 1, 2, 3, 3R, 4, 6, 6P and 13 requirements.

Type 1: Allows for indoor use and offers a dregree of protection against access to harzardous parts by personnel. Enclosures that meet NEMA 1 also protect the enclosure against foreign solid obkects(such as indoor dirt).
Type 2: Allows for indoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide a degree of protection against foreign objects (such as falling dirt) and the ingress of water (light dripping or splashing).
Type 3: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain or snow). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 3R: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures primarily provide ingress protection against water (such as rain, snow or sleet). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 4: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 4 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6P: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from solid objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as hose directed water). Enclosures that meet the NEMA 6P requirement also offer protection against water when being submerged at a limited depth.
Type 13: Enclosures that meet Type 13 are suited to harsh environments. Enclosures can be used indoors and provide protection against access to hazardous parts. They offer protection against solid objects such as falling dirt, windblown dirt, fibres and lint. They provide a level of protection from dripping and splashing water and other liquids such as the splashing, seepage and spraying of oil and non-corrosive coolants.
