    Phase Rotation Testers

Phase rotation testers are useful portable devices designed to check the direction of phase rotation in motorised machinery with three-phase supplies. These testers provide LED indication of both clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation. They are ideal for checking phase sequence in motors, pumps and air conditioning units. They can also be called phase sequence indicators, phase sequence meters of phase sequence testers. One requirement is to verify that the phase sequence in multiphase (three-phase) circuits is maintained. They are also used for motor and generator testing.

Phase rotation testers allow the electrical contractor or industrial maintenance electrician to permanently connect and tape the terminals of the motor being installed, without having to first energise the motor by a temporary hook-up from a power source, if available, to determine motor rotation. Therefore, the test set eliminates the need for temporary connections that can be time consuming, costly and quite hazardous, particularly where many large, high-voltage motors are involved.

This phase sequence indicator is a cost effective meter to offer a clear indication of the phase sequence as well as showing any missing phases in the power source under test.

To avoid damage make sure that the relevant calibration, performance test and service information is being used.

    Features include:

    • Determines rotation direction of one, two or three phase motors before connection to line

    • Effective tool for measuring phase rotation in all areas where three phase supplies are used to feed motors, drives and electrical systems.

    • Provides clear indication of three phase systems via an LCD display and the phase rotation direction to determine correct connections.

    • Suitable for commercial and industrial applications

    • Rugged and portable tester

Phase rotation testers will prove continuity, or identify fault condition, of all three lines and shows the sequence of phase rotation. It's a fast, effective method of identifying worn or unmarked cables and ensures 3-phase outlets and machines are wired correctly.
