StarTech Fibre Optic Cable, 50m Cable Length, Single Mode Fibre - SMLCSC-OS2-50M

This Fibre optic cable is a single mode OS2 patch cord designed for high-speed data links in controlled environments. It provides a duplex LC-to-SC UPC connection optimised for long-reach networks and CWDM across 1260 to 1625 nm. The assembly uses bend-insensitive Fibre within an LSZH outer jacket to reduce hazardous emissions in enclosed spaces and supports interoperability with legacy single mode installations.

Features and Benefits:

• 100 Gbps throughput supports very-high-speed networks
• Insertion loss 0.3 dB ensures low signal attenuation
• Return loss 55 dB improves signal reflection performance
• Bend radius 10 mm allows tight routing in confined paths
• LSZH jacket reduces smoke and toxic fumes during combustion

Applications

• Suitable for high-density data centre interconnects
• Ideal for server-to-switch short-to-medium links
• Used with CWDM optical systems across extended wavelengths
• Can be used for fibre-channel storage area network links

What temperature range can it operate within?

It functions between -20°C and 60°C.

How is connector alignment achieved to reduce loss?

Ceramic ferrules provide precise alignment for insertion loss below 0.3 dB.

Does the cable support compatibility with older single mode networks?

Yes, it is backwards compatible with OS1 systems.

What safety advantage does the jacket offer in enclosed spaces?

The low-smoke zero-halogen sheath emits reduced toxic fumes if exposed to heat.

How is bend performance maintained in installations with tight routing?

A low refractive index layer around the core reflects escaped light back into the fibre.
