Broadcom HCPL Series Optocoupler, 3.75kVrms Isolation Voltage, 16mA Maximum Input Current - HCPL-3120-300E

This optocoupler isolates control and power circuits using an optoelectronic Interface suitable for circuits requiring logic-level signalling. It accepts DC input and provides a logic-compatible output while offering high-voltage separation between input and output for use in industrial and electronic systems.

Features and Benefits:

• 3.75kVrms isolation provides protection between circuits
• 0.1μs rise and fall times enable fast signal switching
• 16mA maximum input current supports standard drive arrangements
• 1.8V maximum forward voltage reduces input drive requirements
• Single-channel design simplifies point-to-point isolation
• Surface-mount package allows automated PCB assembly

Applications

• Used for isolating microcontroller logic from high-voltage sections
• Suitable for interfacing industrial sensors to control electronics
• Ideal for isolating communication lines in power supplies
• Can be used for signal transfer in automation equipment
• Used with test instrumentation requiring high-voltage separation

What temperature range can it operate within?

It functions across an industrial range from −40 to 100°C.

How many pins and what package form does it have?

The device uses eight pins in a DIP package for board mounting.

Is it suitable for multi-channel isolation requirements?

It provides a single channel, so multiple units are required for multi-channel tasks.

What approvals cover this component for safety standards?

It holds UL and CSA approvals for recognised safety assessment.

How is the product supplied for handling and storage?

Units are supplied in tube packaging for organised component handling.
